Experience the grand adventure of a discovery expedition cruise. This tour is for people who are not short on time and want to relax and explore this fascinating region. You will experience the beautiful Amazon nature and, with luck, see a variety of animals, such as Amazon river dolphins and otters, snakes, monkeys, toucans, and macaws. Your English-speaking guide will always be by your side, making this cruise a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Your expedition cruise starts at your preferred/chosen date. We guarantee every departure with the first booking of a double cabin. The maximum number of passengers on every expedition cruise is 10 guests. Nevertheless it will be a very private and familiar atmosphere.

Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome Aboard!

Included: Transfer (in-group) | Visit Floating Village, Walking Tour Januarilandia Park (in-group) | Lunch, Dinner

At around 9:00 a.m., your English-speaking guide will pick you up from your Hotel in Manaus to start your cruise. You will sail downriver to see the impressive meeting of Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes. You will then briefly visit a floating village that is home to 30 families, and you will be able to gain some insight into their daily lives. Next, you will go to Janauarilandia Park, where you can take a walk on a raised platform for the best view of the giant water lilies. Lunch will be served on board. After lunch, the boat will sail from Janauarilandia to Jacareubal. You will have dinner on board and spend the rest of the evening enjoying leisure time.

Day 2: Arara Community and Sunset Tour

Included: Nature Hike, Sunset Tour, Caiman Spotting (in-group) | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

At 6:00 a.m., the boat will depart to Rio Arara, and you will have breakfast on board. Then you will go on a rainforest trek accompanied by both your English-speaking guide and a local guide from the Arara community with extensive knowledge of the area. The guides will inform you about the area's natural environment, flora, and fauna. After the hike, you will have a barbecue lunch. Later, you will have the opportunity to swim in Rio Arara. The boat will then cruise up to the Anavilhanas Archipelago. When you arrive, you will go out on the smaller expedition boat for a sunset tour. Dinner will be served on board, followed by a caiman observation tour.

Day 3: Action-Packed Adventures

You will start your day by going out on a canoe for a bird watching tour in the Anavilhanas Archipelago. Then it will be time for breakfast, and the boat will head towards a village called Terra Preta, where you will visit a church and a school. Lunch will be served on board. After that, the boat will start sailing upstream towards Rio Cueiras. You will have dinner on board. Then another exciting excursion awaits you - night trekking in the rainforest with an overnight stay in a hammock in the jungle.

Day 4: Heading for Jau National Park

Included: Morning Hike (in-group) | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Your night in the jungle will come to an end with the sunrise and the dawn chorus. After a short walk back, the boat will depart towards Jau National Park. You will spend the day on board enjoying the beautiful Rio Negro landscape.

Day 5: Into the Heart of the Amazon

Day 6: Jau Waterfalls

Included: Sunrise Tour, Jau Waterfall, Boat Excursion (in-group) | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

You will start your day at 5:30 a.m. with a sunrise tour and then have breakfast on board. After breakfast, you will visit the Jau waterfalls, where you will have the opportunity to bathe. Lunch will be served on board. Later, you will go out on the excursion boat to observe a variety of animals and birds. With a bit of luck, you may able to spot otters, snakes, monkeys, toucans, or macaws.

Day 7: Arriving in Novo Airao

Day 8: Return to Manaus

At 5:00 a.m., the boat will depart towards Manaus. We will spend almost all day on board observing the flora and fauna of the Amazon, with one stop for a refreshing swim at a beach. After you disembark in Manaus, a transfer will take you back to your hotel or to the airport.

  • The maximum number of passengers on every expedition cruise is 10 guests.
  • The electricity on board, which is also needed for the air conditioning in the cabins, is produced by a generator. This generator is located below deck and can also be heard in the cabins.
  • The Amazon region can be visited all year round. However, it should be noted that the water level between October and December can be so low that the smaller side arms of the rivers cannot be navigated.
  • The itinerary can be adjusted according to weather conditions. The order of excursions can change and animal sightings cannot be guaranteed.
  • The ceiling height of both ships is about 5.9 feet (1.80 meters).
