Brazil: Extension of the passenger train service
November 23, 2012
In the future, the passenger train service in the south of Brazil shall be expanded and made available to more people. So far, two rail lines (205 km in total) are planned. One rail line from Maringa to Londrina in Parana, and one between Caxias and Bento Goncalves in Rio Grande do Sul. First, however, the usability for passengers will be tested, like in four other train routes as well, which are currently mainly used for transporting goods. The aim is to guarantee a customer friendly rail network.
