Brazil: Since 2010, the Brazilian population grew by 3.19 million

October 23, 2012

The National Institute of Geography and Statistics (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística) published that the population of Brazil increased by about 3.2 million inhabitants since the last census (2010). The data was collected from 5,565 municipalities in Brazil. However, the growth is relatively low and indicates a declining birth rate. The growth rate is still positive because of people migrating to Brazil from neighboring countries and Portugal.
