The creativity of the people is as diverse as Brazil's nature. Artists and designers find inspiration here. The Brazilian carpenter and designer Rodrigo Calixto works in Rio de Janeiro and makes all his furniture according to traditional techniques of carpentry, and that without ever having learned this craft in an apprenticeship. Calixto says he learned all the basics from his father, who in his spare time always worked with wood.

His products, such as chairs, tables, room dividers, and shelves in minimalist style made of wood, are sold under the brand name "OFICINA ETHOS". More and more Brazilians and Brazil travelers are discovering the multiple award-winning designer with his meticulous handwork for themselves. Rodrigo Calixto treats his working materials with reverent respect. Like a diver looking for pearls in the sea, Calixto searches for the most diverse types of wood throughout Brazil.

Some of these types of wood no longer exist as trees, but only somewhere in warehouses, garages, or in processed condition. Precise technique and the variety of colors in the processed woods are the focus of his work, as well as the combination of different or similar woods in geometric forms.
