Soccer increases the economic development
December 04, 2012
Although the current figures on economic development in Brazil seem to be worse, there is one sector, which could increase its growth and its sales in the past year. Five Brazilian premier-league football clubs recorded a total turnover of 0.7 billion Euros in the year 2011.
The main reasons for the increased revenues were the merchandising of television rights, as well as sponsorship deals. Another indicator of the increasing sales of the Brazilian football clubs is the forthcoming World Cup, which will take place in Brazil, in 2014. The club Corinthians from Sao Paulo leads the ranking with sales of 104 million Euros. Close behind is situated the FC Santos, which was able to register a turnover of 70 million Euros last year.
