The New Fashion Mecca Brazil

The fashion industry is increasingly turning its attention to Brazil and not only to the European metropolises as Paris or Milan. Fashion events like Fashion Week in Sao Paulo make Brazil the new shooting star in the fashion world and attract more and more fashion designers and top models to the South American country.
Local designers like Alexandre Herchcovitch have meanwhile made a name for themselves in the scene and show that Brazil can attract attention with more than just swimwear. Fashion designer Juliana Jabour says: "I think it is the special lifestyle that makes Brazil so special. Everything is a little more relaxed here". Brazil's textile sector is now one of the largest in the world - and the fashion industry is booming with it.
This upswing is also evident on the catwalks: More and more spectators want to see the latest fashion trends up close. Despite the international attention, Brazilian designers mostly sell their creations to local customers. With the increase in monthly income in recent years, Brazilians are once again happy to spend their money on fashion. More and more international designers such as Burberry and Lanvin are opening boutiques in various Brazilian cities due to the great boom in the fashion industry.
Constanza Pascolato from Vogue Brazil says: "But we have to become even more professional. We are still a young country and our experience in the fashion business is not that great yet". All the more reason for the fashion designers in Brazil to become better and learn more and more.
