Time Changeover in Brazil

Special features of the Brazilian time changeover
At the weekend the time had come again, the clock was turned in Brazil. In Europe, the time change already leads to some confusion. In Brazil things are similar to the US and are even a bit more complicated, because there are several different time zones and besides, the time changeover does not take place in all regions of the country. In this article, we will try to shed some light on this issue.
First of all, it should be noted that there are no time changes in the northern regions of Brazil. This is due to the proximity to the equator and the resulting seasonal fluctuations of the day length. Which states are concerned in detail, will be listed below.
The time changeover in Brazil traditionally takes place every third Sunday in February (winter time) and on the third Sunday in October (summertime). Another special feature is that the time is set back from 1.00 a.m. to 0.00 a.m. during the night from Saturday to Sunday (February) and from 0.00 a.m. to 1.00 a.m. (October). This small difference is especially relevant if you want to arrive at the airport on time on these nights.
If you have an agreed telephone call to another country, you should keep in mind that the time change in Brazil does not take place on the same day as in the US (US: second Sunday in March and November). Therefore, there are some time differences in the meantime. You can find more information about this and everything you need to know about the different Brazilian time zones in our section Time difference and time zones.
