Amazon Cruise – Into the Wild Amazon 5 Days of Nature and Wildlife Observation Brazil | Amazon

On this five-day river expedition cruise aboard the motor yacht Tucano, you will explore the beauty and vastness of the Amazon Rainforest and immerse yourself in its unique flora and fauna. On various excursions by boat, canoe, or on foot you will discover the region's fascinating diversity. You will also enjoy downtime in the tranquil comfort of the yacht and let the glorious scenery pass you by.

Itinerary

Day 1: Rio Negro Upstream to the Anavilhanas Archipelago

Included: Boat Excursion, Night Excursion (in-group) | Lunch, Dinner

Just after midday, you will board the motor yacht Tucano and check into your cabin with its private bathroom, large windows, and air-conditioning. The boat offers a total of 9 guest cabins as well as a sun deck, a covered terrace, and an air-conditioned salon where meals are served. In addition to the long-serving and dedicated crew, you will be accompanied by an experienced English-speaking guide.

Upon departure, you will sail upstream on the Rio Negro. You can sit comfortably on the deck and soak up the unique surroundings until you reach the Anavilhanas Archipelago, the largest river island archipelago in the world.

Here, you will take your first trip in a smaller motorboat to get a closer look at the flora and fauna. With luck, you may spot monkeys, river dolphins, and a variety of colorful birds. After dinner, you will head out on the water again to listen to the jungle sounds and try to spot some nocturnal animals.

Overnight: M/Y Tucano, Stateroom with private bathroom

Day 2: Rainforest Hikes in the Anavilhanas Archipelago

Included: Sunrise Tour, Nature Hike, Boat Excursion, Night Safari | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

At sunrise, a small motorboat will take you upriver to take in the dawn chorus and observe the flooded forest, or "Igapos", where the dense rainforest grows straight out of the water.

After a hearty breakfast on board, you will head out on a rainforest hike to experience flora and fauna up close.

After lunch and some downtime on board, you will go out on smaller boats for another animal-spotting excursion. With luck, you could spot howler monkeys, porcupines, or sloths on the riverbank, and then of course enjoy the sunset. After dinner, weather permitting, we will head out again to search for the shining eyes of caimans along the riverbank.

Overnight: M/Y Tucano, Stateroom with private bathroom

Day 3: Downstream towards the Rio Amazonas

Today you will explore the western banks of Rio Negro by boat and on foot. Depending on the water level, you may be able to head right into the forest’s flooded areas. Further downstream, the motor yacht Tucano will anchor in a tributary of the Rio Negro. After a night excursion, you will enjoy a sociable Caipirinha cocktail evening.

Day 4: "Meeting of the Waters”

Included: Sunrise Boat Excursion, Nature Hike | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

At sunrise, you will head out onto the river to experience the dawn chorus, followed by breakfast and then a short hike. Afterwards, the Tucano will continue downriver until you arrive at the confluence of Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes in the late morning. The famous "Meeting of the Waters" is where the dark waters of Rio Negro and the light waters of Rio Solimoes flow side-by-side without mixing for miles before forming Rio Amazonas. This impressive natural spectacle is best observed from the top deck. Later, you will anchor just north of Manaus, where you will enjoy a delicious farewell dinner.
