Pousada Rio Claro is a beautifully situated farm in the northern part of the Brazilian wetland Pantanal. Cuiaba, the capital of the state of Mato Grosso, is located 87 miles (140 kilometers) away. A 1.9 miles (3 kilometers) long private road leads from the main road "Transpantaneira" to the accommodation. These last part of the way to Pousada Rio Claro can be flooded in the rainy season and the farm cannot be reached by car in these circumstances. During the rainy season many transfers and tours are done on safari boats. A visit in the northern Pantanal promises an unforgettable and adventurous holiday in an unique landscape. Pantanal is a protected and remote area, which mainly lives from cattle and ecotourism. The tourism has become the main tool to protect and preserve the animals and the wetlands. The whole Pantanal is a perfect spot for nature lovers.
