For the full day sightseeing tour of Salvador da Bahia, you will first go to the upper city, where the historic center around the Pelourinho is located. Many beautifully restored buildings give an impression of the colonial history of Salvador. You will visit the church and the monastery of San Francisco, one of the most important jewels of the baroque culture of Brazil. Another highlight of this tour is the Dique de Tororo with the statues of the Afro-Brazilian Candomble religion. Your guide will comment a lot of interesting things about the history and unique culture of Salvador.
Itinerary
To begin this all day city tour of Salvador da Bahia, you will be picked up at your hotel by your guide and head to uptown Salvador which is the historical center and located around the Pelourinho (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Many beautifully restored buildings leave an impression from the colonial history of the city. In addition your guide will tell you a lot of interesting things worth knowing about this time in history and the Afro-Brazilian culture.
You will take the famous elevator down to the lower part of the city, and visit the former slave market Mercado Modelo. Furthermore you will take a lift up to the famous Barra Lighthouse and the Church of Nosso Senhor do Bonfim. To conclude the tour you will head to Ribeira Beach before your guide takes you back to the hotel.
