Uakari Lodge – 5 Day Experience 5 Days of Nature and Adventure Brazil | Amazon, Tefe
Experience the Amazon Rainforest at its best on this 5-day adventure. In a mixture of recreation and activities, you will discover the different facets of the jungle on various excursions. Depending on the season and water level, most of the excursions will take place on foot or by boat. All tours are led by an English-speaking guide who will explain the Amazon ecosystem and look out for indigenous wildlife such as monkeys, dolphins, sloths, tapirs, or macaws.
Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to the Jungle and Boat Trip to the Lodge
Included: Transfer (in-group, 1.5h) | Boat Excursion (in-group) | Lunch, Dinner
Your English-speaking guide will welcome you upon arrival at the Tefe airport. From there you will start your journey into the jungle toward Uakari Lodge. A 1.5-hour boat trip will land you at the Mamiraua Reserve, where the floating lodge is strategically located.
Lunch will be served at midday in the lodge’s restaurant and you will be shown around to get familiar with the amenities.
Later, a short interpretation walk is planned for you to gain first impressions of the Amazon Rainforest. For dinner you will be back at the lodge and you can join an interesting presentation about the history of the Mamiraua Reserve and the projects they do to preserve this natural paradise.

Day 2: In Touch with the Rainforest
Included: Nature Hike, Piranha Fishing, Night Walk (in-group) | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
To have a good chance at observing wildlife, all activities start early. After breakfast you will go on a nature hike into the rainforest where you will hopefully observe animals and learn about the flora from your specialized English-speaking guide.
Lunch will allow you some leisure time to enjoy the amenities of the lodge. All afternoon activities start at around 3:30 p.m. On today’s excursion you will have the opportunity to catch the Amazon’s most famous fish: the piranha. During this experience you might also be able to observe other wildlife such as dolphins, birds, or otters.

Day 3: The Amazon at its Best

Another jungle hike is scheduled for you today. Your guide will provide you with a lot of interesting knowledge about the ecosystem of the Amazon Rainforest. You will be amazed at what the guides can spot during a walk through the jungle.
In the afternoon you will head to Mamiraua Lake to gain a wider perspective of the natural reserve. This tour will continue until dusk so you can enjoy a beautiful sunset on the water and look out for nocturnal animals.

Day 4: Amazon Life
Included: Community Visit, Canoe Trip (in-group), Meet the Researchers | Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Today you will visit a local community to obtain a better understanding of how people live in the Amazon. With this fresh insight on your mind, you will then go on a canoe trip. While paddling through the flooded rainforest, your guide will explain the jungle’s biodiversity and you also might be able to spot wild animals. The evening is reserved for a lecture from one of the researchers who works in the reserve.

Day 5: Return to Tefe

After breakfast, and depending on your departure flight itinerary, the lodge transfer will bring you back to the Tefe airport.

- Due to AZUL flight schedules, this tour only begins every Monday.
- Other pousada guests can also take part in the excursions with their own guides; however, this is not always the case.
- This trip can also be booked with private excursions (price available upon request).
- The itinerary is an example program for the dry season and can be adjusted according to weather conditions, animal abundance, and the water level. Individual activities can also be replaced by similar ones. The Amazon region can be visited year round. Please note, however, that during the rainy season (from May to July) walking tours are limited. Instead, the excursions here are mainly done by canoe. Animal sightings cannot be guaranteed.
- Electricity is mainly generated by solar energy, since the lodge invests in sustainability. Therefore, electrical devices such as cameras, mobile phones, tablets, and computers can only be charged between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. when the sunlight is at its strongest.
