Freshly Brewed in the Heart of Florianopolis

Homemade Brazilian beer
During a holiday in Brazil you’ll soon figure out that the Brazilians are a beer-loving nation. In the course of the waves of immigration, the Germanic barley juice has long since conquered its firm place in Brazilian culture. Numerous examples can be found in Blumenau, where, among other things, the Eisenbahn is produced and enjoys a high reputation. Especially in southern Brazil, the new home of many emigrants from Germany, traditional brewing is cultivated.
Let us put ourselves in the situation of such a conversation. We start with a harmless exchange about taste and variations. Later, the question inevitably follows as to how the South American equivalent is found in comparison to German products. Brahma, Bohemia, and Skol are the most common brands that can be ordered in any Brazilian bar. But to get an impression of the local bottle, it is best to do the tasting, we thought. The 'DaTerra' beer from Florianopolis comes just in time. We went on a search for traces...
And discovered a story that has been writing for two years now. It all started in Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. It is not far from the Iguacu waterfalls, the Sao Joaquim National Park, and the Serra Catarinense in the south of Brazil. It was in this very city that one of the three creators of DaTerra first had the idea of brewing his beer. What sounds like an easy hobby at first glance is a long process. Researching, learning, applying, discarding, and improving is the motto. Everything that the young entrepreneurs master in their sleep today, they have taught themselves in their studies. On the magical island of Floripa, they have found the right production site. They sold their gourmet beer first on the street and later to bars and restaurants. Finally, they founded the hostel 'DaTerra', which of course also serves the homemade barley drink.
DaTerra is available in five flavors:
- White
- Pale
- Ipa
- Red Ale
- Stout
The white is a wheat beer. The Pale variety is traditional, the Ipa is fruity, while the Red Ale has a strong caramel taste. Stout is the dark beer of the collection.
Beer and hostel are the livelihood of the brewers and form a harmonious symbiosis. The hostel is located in the center of the island, near Lagoa da Conceicao. In this quarter it is always lively. During the day as well as at night, a lot is going on here, a huge number of possibilities for going out invites you to socialize. Having a drink in a bar, going to a gourmet restaurant and trying the local fish or dancing samba and forro in a club, all this is possible. Or just taste DaTerra.
To test the exquisite result of the DaTerra brewing art, Brazil vacationer only has to make a stop at the hostel in Floripa. While enjoying a cool white beer, the brewers might even initiate their visitors into the mysterious production of their delicious products.
