Florianopolis Is Abundance...

Beach beauties in Brazil

... of beauty and happiness

A trip to Brazil is always also a confrontation with reality, which must meet our expectations. Beautiful, smiling, and happy people are part of the stereotypical image we have of Brazil. And nowhere do we see ourselves confirmed in this image more than in Florianopolis. This wonderful spot on earth, affectionately called the "Island of Bliss", has long been a hotspot for Brazilians. With vacationers from Europe, "Floripa" is in the popularity scale behind Rio, Amazonas, and Co. Time to change this, so we thought and the "beautiful" capital of Santa Catarina underwent a review.

Let's start where a large part of everyday life takes place: at one of the numerous beaches of the south. Is it only bikini beauties and well-trained bodies that you meet here? The answer is yes, with few exceptions that confirm the rule. And yet it is above all an inner contentment and the self-confidence that is brought to light that we notice. It's fascinating that no differences between women and men, young and old, are immediately apparent. The sunbathing senior citizen is no less attractive, i.e. tanned, sporty, and full of life, than the teenager who conquers the waves on his surfboard. Can this be true or is magic involved? Freely based on the legend of witches, who are said to have cast a good spell on the island, Florianopolis is also known as "Ilha da Magia".

If you ask the locals, the explanation is simple. A beautiful woman, who enjoys cake and champagne on the beach with her friends and celebrates life, says: "If you, like we here in Floripa, have sun, sea and the opportunity to surf, there is simply no reason to be unhappy. People love their work-out and use the perfect natural conditions for it. Surfing, stand-up paddling, horse riding, and sandboarding keep them fit. The motto is: "If you feel good, you look good". There is no ideal of beauty according to the scheme to which one submits. Beauty is omnipresent and lies in the eye of the beholder.

Florianopolis also benefits from multicultural influences. Many immigrants from Europe, America, and Brazil itself have settled in this region in the past. A trend that continues unbroken until today. Nationwide surveys repeatedly show that Floripa is the most popular place to live in Brazil. Is it their conscious decision for the island that makes the inhabitants so happy? Perhaps this is the reason for the attractiveness that we encounter everywhere here. The pursuit of perfection to keep up with the immaculate environment may also lead to the fact that people live active and healthy lives.

As if that wasn't enough, the local gourmet scene is also brilliant. The UNESCO awarded Floripa the title "Gastronomic and Creative City 2014". The palate is spoiled with freshly caught fish, while the eye cannot get enough of the picturesque nature and attractive population. You automatically feel beautiful and happy. Perhaps it is the magical atmosphere that makes its inhabitants shine. The blessing of living in this paradise on earth, which makes the people so distinctive. Let's go to the stronghold of bliss, in the hope that a little of the joy of life will rub off on us during our vacations in Brazil. It is worth a try...
