Brasilia - The modern capital of Brazil

If one asks interested parties where they would like to spend their Brazil trip, the names of the big metropolises such as Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo usually fall next to the beaches and the Amazon region. The actual capital of the country, Brasilia, is surprisingly little anchored in people's minds. Yet the city with its 2.6 million inhabitants and its futuristic buildings has a lot to offer not only for fans of architecture but for all Brazil travelers. On December 11, 2014, the 27th anniversary of Brasilia's nomination as "Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO was celebrated.

Brasilia was literally erected in 1956 in only 1000 days, with the only reason to replace Rio de Janeiro as capital. A Capital in the interior of the country was a long-cherished dream. After Brazil had finally gained independence in the 18th century, the desire for a capital that could better defend itself with a central location grew. In addition, the location in the interior of Brazil was to promote the development of the infrastructure of the interior. However, the breakthrough came only when Juscelino Kubitschek became president with the election promise to build the new capital. He hired the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer to design the buildings and his teacher Lucio Costa as an urban planner.

With its futuristic and representative buildings, the capital Brasilia alone is worth a visit to Brazil. In addition, many bars, restaurants, and localities make the Brazil vacation also a culinary experience. Brasilia also has numerous leisure facilities, such as the water park Bay Park. In the large Brazilian national park or in the botanical garden, tourists will find sufficient green spaces during their Brazil vacation to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you are planning a trip to Brazil, Brasilia should definitely be added to the list of Brazil travel components. With a guided day tour in Brasilia, the sights of the world's cultural metropolis can be explored particularly well. The tour takes Brazil travelers to government buildings, museums, public places, and the beautiful bridge Ponte JK.
If you want to experience world heritage sites up close during your Brazil vacation, but don't want to come all the way to Brasilia, you should not miss the historic city center of Pelourinho in Salvador de Bahia. Colonial architecture, beautiful colorful houses, and small alleys invite you to a Salvador-Citytour and to stay a while. Furthermore, this city is the Brazilian cradle of the African dance-fight Capoeira, which was declared an intangible world cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2014.

Holidaymakers who want to experience the "heritage of humanity" during their Brazil vacation, but want to avoid the big city, will feel right at home on the Brazil Tour, Brazil's natural paradise. From the impressive Amazon region, we will travel into the Pantanal, the largest swamp area on earth. This Garden of Eden, which is home to almost countless animals and plants, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. Last but not least, this Brazil trip leads to the breathtaking waterfalls of Foz do Iguacu. These are wider than the Victoria Falls and higher than the Niagara Falls and were already included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1986.

Besides all cultural and natural highlights, the vacationer should enjoy all impressions, acquaintances, and experiences on his Brazil trip. Even if the hospitality and zest for life of the Brazilians may not be able to be awarded a UNESCO seal, they are in any case a world cultural heritage of a very special kind.
