Brazil Travel: Fortaleza
Fortaleza is the capital of the state of Ceara and has about 2.5 million inhabitants. The main attractions of the city are next to the centre as well as the many beaches that you can relish on your trip to Brazil. Praia da Iracema, Praia do Futuro or the beach promenade Beira Mar are always busy and the many beach bars provide great entertainment. Here you can show off your dancing skills. Live music, pubs, discos and night bars are widely spread in Fortaleza. Additionally, the city centre offers visitors many highlights and sights to see. We recommend to start with the old prison at Rua Senador Pompeu, which now serves as a tourist centre. In the market hall "Mercado Publico" you will find beautiful souvenirs. You should also visit the small park "Passeio Publico" and the “Parque Ecologico do Coco”, which was created in the urban area to protect the last mangroves. In addition, the “Teatro Jose de Alencar” is an exciting destination for culture lovers. If you want authentic Brazilian flair, you are right in the centre "Praca Jose Alencar" where a range of good street musicians, vendors and storytellers perform their many talents. Fortaleza offers year-round warm to hot temperatures with slight seasonal variations. The average temperature range is 21 to 30 degrees Celsius. Most hours of sunshine coupled with the lowest amounts of precipitation, you can expect from August to December. From February to May it rains more.
