Brazil travel: Trancoso
Trancoso is located in the State of Bahia, on the east coast of Brazil. The rustic village with fishing colony-core is home to about 10.000 inhabitants and is picturesquely situated on a bluff overlooking beautiful beaches and the open sea. Car traffic is not allowed in the entire city. In narrow streets with charming shops and boutiques you can purchase authentic handcrafts and souvenirs. The traditional old town offers excellent fish restaurants, clubs and bars. The nightlife is a great mix of live music, concerts and stylish celebrations. Additionally, Trancoso offers a plethora of leisure activities, be it on land or underwater. Of course, it is primarily the beaches that will make your holiday in Brazil unforgettable. The fine sandy beach Trancoso once gained fame when the music video of the legendary song “Lambada“ by Kaoma was shot there. For swimming we recommend beaches that are protected by offshore coral reefs, in particular, the Praia Ponta de Itaquena and Praia Barra do Rio dos Frades. If you want to go fishing and discover natural pools, Praia de Ponta Itapororoca is the ideal spot. Trancoso offers generally warm temperatures. In summer, from December to February the average temperature ranges from 21 to 30 degrees Celsius. In winter, it only reaches 18 to 27 degrees. January, February and August have the least amount of rainfall. In the months of April, July and October it rains the most.
