Brazil Travel Packages: Ilha Grande

Ilha Grande is located in the Atlantic Ocean, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) from Rio de Janeiro. It has only about 3,000 inhabitants, but has a remarkable amount of beaches (113 to be exact). During your vacation on this dream island you can perfectly combine activity with relaxation. Besides the beautiful sandy beaches, the nature-protected state park, with the dense Atlantic Rainforest and numerous hiking trails, invites you to explore. In total, the state park extends over 15,000 hectares, corresponding to more than three-fourths of the entire island. Among the highlights of Ilha Grande are the breathtaking views from Pico do Papagaio mountain and Lopes Mendes beach, one of the most beautiful beaches of Ilha Grande. As there are no cars on the island, the beaches can only be reached by boat or on foot. Then comes the reward: treating yourself to a refreshing swim in the turquoise, clear water! The average temperature high in the summer, from December to February, is 79 °F (26 °C) to 82 °F (28 °C). Most precipitation occurs during these months. In the winter, with little precipitation, which lasts from June to September, you can expect temperatures of up to 73 °F (23 °C).
