Ilha Grande is located in the Atlantic Ocean, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) from Rio de Janeiro. It has only about 3,000 inhabitants, but has a remarkable amount of beaches (113 to be exact). The average temperature high in the summer, from December to February, is 79 °F (26 °C) to 82 °F (28 °C). Most precipitation occurs during these months. In the winter, with little precipitation, which lasts from June to September, you can expect temperatures of up to 73 °F (23 °C).
