Brazil travel: Porto Seguro
The coastal town of Porto Seguro is located 734 kilometres south of Salvador. The city has a population of 141,000 inhabitants, representing an increase of 14,000 residents in just four years. With more than 90 kilometres of beach, Porto Seguro has become one of the favourite tourist destinations in Brazil. Here you can experience sun, sea and beach to the nightly sounds of Lambada, which is particularly very popular. The beaches are just outside the city zone and are protected by offshore reefs. This allows you to swim in clear and calm waters. We recommend the quiet and almost deserted beaches Praia do Muta and Ponta Grande. If you like friendly company, you are in good hands at Praia Itacimirim or Praia de Taperapua. Even trips to the sea or to the Atlantic Rainforest are possible. Alone the nightlife of Porto Seguro is worth the trip. Live music on the beach, numerous show-tents, beautifully decorated beach stands and authentic Brazilian reggae attracts many visitors. The summer from December to February is the warmest time. You can expect temperatures from 21 to 30 degrees Celsius. January to March have the most hours of sunshine. In the Brazilian winter, temperatures drop to 18 to 27 degrees. The months with the least rainfall are January, February and August. In the months April, July and October it rains the most.
