Tefe is located in the State of Amazonas and requires no road network so that you can only reach the city by boat or by plane. Before its establishment in 1759 the village held 62.000 inhabitants a rather insignificant Indian settlement. Today however, Tefe is on the banks of the Rio Solimoes an important freight hub, hence the loving nickname, “Princess of the Rio Solimoes". On your trip to Tefe you get to know the original and authentic way of life within the Amazon. If possible, you should not miss the famous festivities of the city. In addition to the "Festival Folclorico" is also the cultural festival "Feira Cultural" and the "Festival de Verao", a summer festival with many local bands. Moreover, Tefe is the starting point for the National Park Mamiraua. Here you get a unique insight into the flora and fauna of the region. On four various hiking trails, you can discover numerous primate and bird species, freshwater dolphins, caimans and sloths. The revenue of the National Park is used to support the communities in the area. A trip to the Mamiraua National Park is an unforgettable experience especially for ecotourists. Observe rare plants and wildlife at close range while listening to the exotic jungle noises. Temperatures hardly vary throughout the year. it is no more than 31 to 32 degrees Celsius and a minimum 22 to 23 degrees. From June to November is the lowest rainfall. From December to May, there is more rain.
